When skillfully employed, most people will feel some social inertia in acting against the Comedian. The subject banks on the fact that when all else is equal, the group won't target the funny guy, the life of the party. It seems that not all kinds of senses of humor lend themselves to the advantage of the Comedian. For example, the sardonic and self-deprecating humor of a Janene Garofolo might not protect the Comedian as well as the antics of a Robin Williams. |
