Event Summary

Magi from across Ibera converge on this, the location of the Tribunal of 1221. A certain William of Bonisagus is intent on establishing a covenant upon the ruins of an expired, old winter covenant at Segobriga. For some reason, Gomo of Tremere, a rival of William, opposes the proposition and attempts to undermine the proposal. After much politicking, William secures the vote of the Tribunal to formally establish the covenant of Segobriga Secunda, which he will sponsor, but in which not actually assume residence. The PCs are invited to become founding members. The draft of the covenant charter spells out William's terms of patronage, and the PCs are given copies to read over and consider.

Leo 15, 1221

The Tribunal of Iberia is being held at the Crudus Mens Mentis Covenant.
Matlus, Praco of Iberia, desires it held here rather than in Barcelona.
Barcelona is in a major city, and numerous magi would attract attention.

PCs arrive at Crudus Mens Mentis Covenant at varying times of the day.
Crudus Mens Mentis is located in the Pyrenees mountains of north Iberia.
Crudus Mens Mentis can only be reached by climbing rope up the mountain.
Apparently, a few years ago a botch caused it to be shrouded by magic.
Those who wish to find the covenant find they become lost on the trip.
Crudus Mens Mentis is a large castle, with six towers and a great hall.

The week-long Tribunal is opened by Praco Matlus and Rapidus of Mercere.
Quaesitor Livia of Duresca presides in the stead of the absent Lucius.
It would seem Quaesitor Lucius is away and cannot attend the Tribunal.
Members of all covenants respond to the roll call, except for Numantia.
Igneus of Flambeau holds sigils for non-voting Quaesitors from Duresca.

Leo 16-17

Arcturus of Tytalus is introduced to several magi by his parens Maximus.
Bastia of Bjorner negotiates for Honeycomb Covenant, with Carbo nearby.
Julius of Jerbiton and his parens Michael mingle in with the other magi.
Mateo of Verditius and his parens Fulcrum meet with the other Verditius.

During the Tribunal many points of business appear for group discussion.
Key among these is the fate of Segobriga Covenant, lost eight years ago.
It seems between this tribunal and the last one they lost their charter.
William of Bonisagus now wants to sponsor a new covenant to investigate.
He would like to know what happened and what their discoveries had been.
Gomo of Tremere, a rival to William, wants to stop his sponsorship plan.
Some notice Gomo and William have apprentices that appear exactly alike.

Over the next couple days, William approaches junior magi with an offer.
He will sponsor them as founding members of a new covenant for research.
The youngest magi are not yet approached as their value to him is less.

Angeles of Guernicus is seen as a black-cloaked magus at William's side.
Those who get close to Angeles cannot help but note his inhuman visage.
Electus of Tytalus also makes clear his interest in William's proposal.

Other points of interest involve disputes between Jaferiya and Estancia.
It seems these two covenants take up different sides in the Reconquista.
The friction is increased by Stone's Throw, client covenant to Jaferiya.
Matlus maintains the status quo and deftly manages to avoid most issues.

Leo 18

William garners enough support for his measure to pass in the Tribunal.
Previously absent Quaesitor Lucius appears to lend support to William.
Barcelona, Duresca, Honeycomb, Jaferiya, and Stone's Throw vote for him.
Green Rock (Gomo and William's covenant) and Estancia join in with Gomo.
Crudus Mens Mentis is split, displaying the disorganization of Winter.
Terminus abstains after seeing it will pass and wanting to stay neutral.

Investigation reveals Gomo has no clear plan, but wants William to fail.
Several junior magi refuse William's offer after being bribed by Gomo.
William continues searching for available magi to save his reputation.

Leo 19

Eventually the young PC magi are approached by William as a last resort.
PCs are presented with a covenant charter providing all of the details.
It seems the Charter was written by Lucius, senior Quaesitor of Iberia.
This helps to explain why his filius Angeles sided early with William.
Bodor of the downtrodden Stone's Throw Covenant is also invited to join.
