The person who came inside is robed darkly, and speaks in an accent of the east. At his side is a curved sword with squiggly lettering not unlike those of the heathen Muslims.

He announces himself as Nicha' Azif filius Pythagoras. He creates a slight murmur through the crowd, but Socrates handles it well, instructing him to attend the Tribunal's proceedings beginning later that day, and indicating to him that he will find suitable lodgings outside the Covenant itself.

The magi leave the Hagia Sofia on foot, and travel back to Constantinople Covenant where the newly ascended magi are to meet with their parens for their final lessons--the creation of their sigils.

Iseus is taken in by Socrates who lectures him endlessly.

The other magi fare better...all except for Purros, who, in the middle of his parens' instructions, is challenged to Certamen by his easily angered master. Ciprian declares "Creo!" and Purros, perhaps caught off-guard, unthinkingly responds "Corpus."

Purros began, summoning a fantasm of a dwarven arm, muscled and bent, in readiness for a wrestling. Ciprian parried with a mighty food which stomps down upon the arm. Purros fell unconscious and is unaware of any spell which Ciprian might have used. However, Purros awakens to find his sigil left unfinished.

The new magi then rest for a time, until late in the day, except for Purros who seeks out Nicha' Azif. An Ophelia locates him in a small courtyard, with another Ophelia feeding him strange foods, and sitting upon a pillow.

Purros speaks with him at length and obtains, in bargain for a future favor, the outsider's tutelage in the creation of a sigil ring--which might or might not be a "normal" sigil at all...

During the rest, Iseus has a dream.

The magi awaken in the evening of the same day.
